Hi, I’m Emmalene Oysti!
I’m a Fine Artist and Illustrator from Marquette, Michigan located in the Upper Peninsula along the shores of Lake Superior.
I received my Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree in Illustration from Northern Michigan University. As an avid reader I have an interest in book illustration, but have also found that some of my favorite projects to be custom portraits.
I prefer working with traditional media such as watercolors, acrylic inks, gouache, markers, & colored pencils. My work often utilizes layers of mixed media to create a variety of textures, vibrant colors, and qualities of realism.
My Project Process
What’s it like to work with me? I follow a multiple step process that allows for communication between us to create a beautiful piece of art.
Gathering Information
As the client you will introduce your ideas, including sharing your inspiration, any reference imagery, and important details with me to get a feel for the project outcome.
Sketch Phase
Once we’ve established a project direction, I will begin to make small rough sketches. Revisions and collaborative discussion occurs before moving forward to more final art.
Adding Color
At this point we will have established what the project will look like, but now I will work on color selection and refining details.
Final Art
This is the last stage of the art, working at full-scale with full color for the final product!
